More Server Stuff

I decided to work on the Server a bit more. I was running into massive issues with XCP-ng and the 2TB Hard Drive.

XCP-ng is RedHat based Linux and I don’t know where all of the configuration files are hiding and it’s a very minimal System. No matter what I tried XOA would only get an IPv6 address. So I ditched XCP-ng and installed Proxmox VE 6.1 and it works flawlessly. Not to mention I can control the whole thing from a WebUI and it runs off of Debian 10 (Buster).

When I installed Proxmox I was able to see the issue with the 2TB drive. The drive only wanted to work as a SAS drive and the Kernel blocks the drive due to a Firmware issue. I tried a 1TB drive and same issue but with a 500GB drive it works fine and as a SATA drive. So I have a total of 2TB of storage on this Server.

as a test I created a VM and installed Debian 10 and Home Assistant. I was successful on importing the Full Snapshot from my current Home Assistant Server. The Template I created uses 1 CPU 4 thread cores and 4GB of RAM with 32GB of storage.

When I do the pfSense I’ll use 1 CPU 4 thread cores, 6GB RAM and 64GB of Storage.
Shinobi will have 2 CPU 8 thread cores, 16GB RAM and 1TB of storage.

I’ll have 40GB of RAM free and 8 thread cores free for something else down the road. Maybe I’ll install FreeNAS.
